7 null terms

Concomitant
adjective
naturally accompanying or associated.
Example: "kerogen undergoes successive transformations concomitant with a gradual increase." [1] P. F. Weck et al., “Model representations of kerogen structures: An insight from density functional theory calculations and spectroscopic measurements,” Scientific Reports, vol. 7, no. 1, Aug. 2017, doi: 10.1038/s41598-017-07310-9. ‌
null
Enchanced oil recovery(EOR)
noun
is the extraction of crude oil from an oil field that cannot be extracted otherwise. This method increases the productivity of oil wells.
Example: "Shale formations have great potential for both EOR and CO2 sequestration." [1] M. Dong, H. Gong, Q. Sang, X. Zhao, and C. Zhu, “Review of CO2-kerogen interaction and its effects on enhanced oil recovery and carbon sequestration in shale oil reservoirs,” Resources Chemicals and Materials, vol. 1, no. 1, pp. 93–113, Mar. 2022, doi: 10.1016/j.recm.2022.01.006. ‌
ru: Методы увеличения нефтеотдачи (МУН)
null
Mineral composition
noun
is a fundamental feature that affects the properties and functions of soil through physical, chemical and biological interactions. Minerals divided into 7 groups by their chemical formulas.
Example: "The mineral composition of rocks does not affect the size of the formed pores, but in some cases it controls the amount of formed hydrocarbon compounds and the composition of the liquid products." A. G. Kalmykov et al., “Rock shale mineral composition influence on oil and gas generation process (results from laboratory experiments),” Moscow University Bulletin. Series 4. Geology, vol. 1, no. 1, pp. 85–98, Jan. 2022, doi: 10.33623/0579-9406-2021-1-85-98. ‌
ru: Минеральный состав
null
Rock fabric
noun
it describes the spatial and geometric configuration of all the elements that make it up in a sample.
Example: "kerogen exists as aggregates within the rock fabric, resulting in challenges in understanding its unique properties." [1] Amro Othman, Guenther Glatz, Murtada Saleh Aljawad, Saad Alafnan, Sulaiman A. Alarifi, and Mustafa Al Ramadan “Review of Kerogen’s Geomechanical Properties: Experiments and Molecular Simulation,” ACS Omega 2022 7 (37), 32829-32839 DOI: 10.1021/acsomega.2c03136
ru: Структура
null
Shale
noun
is a fine-grained, clastic sedimentary rock formed from mud that is a mix of flakes of clay minerals
Example: "Thermal treatment (artificial thermal maturation) of the BF organic-rich shale leads to the development and the evolution of organic porosity." [1] T. Karamov, E. Leushina, E. Kozlova, and M. Spasennykh, “Broad Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Characterization of Organic Porosity Evolution During Thermal Treatment of Bazhenov Shale Sample,” SPE Reservoir Evaluation & Engineering, pp. 1–11, Aug. 2022, doi: 10.2118/210599-pa. ‌
ru: сланец
Total organic carbon (TOC)
noun
is the main measurement used for estimating the quality and productivity of a source rock. The source rock - usually an organic rich shale - contains various carbon compounds such as kerogen, bitumen, oil and gas.
Example: "Organic matter in shaly lignites characterised by high TOC and thermally mature Type III kerogen." [1] N. R. Kar et al., “Source rock properties and kerogen decomposition kinetics of Eocene shales from petroliferous Barmer basin, western Rajasthan, India,” Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, vol. 100, p. 104497, Apr. 2022, doi: 10.1016/j.jngse.2022.104497. ‌

Vitrinite reflectance
noun
is a measure of the percentage of incident light reflected from the surface of vitrinite particles in a sedimentary rock. It is referred to as %Ro. Results are often presented as a mean Ro value based on all vitrinite particles measured in an individual sample.
Example: "Vitrinite reflectance measured on whole rock is often considered to be more reliable because autochthonous vitrinite grains are better identified in their natural setting." [1] P. K. Mukhopadhyay, “Vitrinite Reflectance as Maturity Parameter,” ACS Symposium Series, pp. 1–24, Jul. 1994, doi: 10.1021/bk-1994-0570.ch001. ‌
